  • Meet NOCCA's President/CEO
    Kyle Wedberg
Interim President and Chief Executive Officer

“I realize every day how privileged I am to be part of the NOCCA community. This school is the national gold standard of public arts education and I would never want to change what NOCCA is today. But we must continue to strive to make it better. The ability to change lives thorough expanded opportunities and enhanced skills and confidence for the students that attend NOCCA has been demonstrated. The future of NOCCA must include working to build a school that will provide access to this opportunity for as many students as possible while never compromising the talent and demonstrated commitment it takes to be part of this institution.”

    Brief Bio:
Kyle has a professional career that has focused on education and public service. After college, Kyle volunteered for a year through the Americorps program City Year as a teacher’s aide in two advanced work 5th grade classrooms at the James W. Hennigan School in Boston. Kyle then received and completed a public affairs fellowship through the Coro Foundation Midwestern Center in St. Louis, MO. After graduate school, Kyle took a position with the Office of Budget and Management for the City of Chicago where he had the opportunity to oversee the public safety budgets for the second largest police and fire departments in the country. In 2002 he was recruited to work for the School District of Philadelphia where he served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. Kyle was then asked to come back to City Year and lead the efforts around new site development where he helped to launch City Year Louisiana (where he fell in love with New Orleans) and City Year Los Angeles. In 2007, Kyle took a leadership role as a member of Paul Vallas’ transition team for the Recovery School District in New Orleans where he also served as Chief Administrative Officer for the District. While working at the RSD, Kyle visited and was amazed by NOCCA-the creative arts high school for the State of Louisiana and one of the top national institutions of its kind- where he now has the privilege to serve as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Kyle is engaged to be married in October; in his spare time enjoys being a part of the best arts scene in the country through the sights, music, and food of New Orleans and Louisiana; and proudly serves on the City Year Louisiana Advisory Board. Kyle has a BA from St. Olaf College and a MPA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
