Founded in the summer of 2005 by NOCCA|Riverfront's Creative Writing faculty, in conjunction with several other writers and visual artists, Press Street is a New Orleans-based literary and visual arts collective. Press Street's mission is to promote art and literature in the region through literary and arts events as well as the publication of books.
Press Street believes that as New Orleans rebuilds its city and its public schools, literacy and art programs are an important contribution. That's why all the proceeds from the sale of Press Street's first title, Intersection/New Orleans, are being donated to a new literacy program in a partnership between Press Street and NOCCA|Riverfront.
Designed by Tom Varisco of Spoiled fame, Intersection/New Orleans is a collaborative effort between 25 visual artist and 25 writers. The book is an exploration of the personal and imaginative connections to the streets of the city. Intersection is the result of a project started in the summer of 2005, which has come to fruition despite the relocation of many of the book's contributors due to Hurricane Katrina.
Intersection/New Orleans includes a mix of both pre-and post-Katrina works by artists such as Jacqueline Bishop, Mary Jane Parker, George Schmidt, and Clifton Webb and writers such as Andrei Codrescu, Christine Wiltz, Martin Pousson, and Ken Foster.
Copies of Intersection are available for $19, which includes shipping by USPS Priority Mail. Purchase your copy of today: you'll get an outstanding book, and you'll be helping the children of New Orleans in the process!
