Audition Requirements

ESSAY And Interview. Include with your completed application: an essay describing your ambitions in theatre arts in no more than 200 words (approximately two pages if handwritten, one page typed). Describe your career aspirations and why you think you are particularly qualified to work in this field. During the audition, you must be able to discuss grades and school participation, express strong desire to explore theatre arts.

RÉSUMÉ & PHOTOGRAPH. Include with your completed application: a written or typed list of your training and experiences in performance/acting and a photograph of your head and shoulders (school photos accepted).

ACTING AUDITION. (1) You may be asked to participate in movement and vocal exercises (appropriate dress required such as gym shoes, gym clothes, tights); (2) you must present a selection handout provided by the Theatre Department (request handout from NOCCA or refer to nocca.com; NO ORIGINAL SPEECHES OR POEMS; be familiar with the play from which the monologue was taken); (3) you must respond spontaneously in directed improvisational exercises; (4) you must read an unfamiliar text out loud with clarity of speech and understanding of meaning. You will also be given a reading comprehension test.
