About the Program
Applied Music
The applied music class for jazz teaches students the scale and chord vocabulary of jazz, as well as building their repertoire of standards. Students are assigned by level to combos to prepare performances.

Theory and Ear Training
The jazz program at NOCCA| Riverfront requires students to build reading and writing skills as well as performing. In order to receive the NOCCA|Riverfront Certificate of Artistry or Certificate of Performance, the student must have met all requirements of the theory and ear training curriculum.

History
Jazz students are taught, via books, recordings, videos and guest artist workshops about the great artists in their field. They also learn about some of the masterworks of classical music.
