Phase I
Application Process-Samples: Include with your completed application two drawings using pencil on 8" x 11” white paper. One drawing should be from direct observation. Subject matter can be either: a) a pair of tennis shoes/boots; or b) an arrangement of kitchen tools/utensils. The second drawing can be your choice of subject matter. In both drawings, be sure to use the entire page and consider composition.
Phase II
Audition Process-Portfolio: Selected students will be invited to present a portfolio of carefully chosen examples of your own artistic production from direct observation during Portfolio Review Week. We are looking for outstanding–not copied–recent work that demonstrates your commitment of time and self. We look for quality before quantity; 8-15 pieces is typical. We look for variety of media, including work in color. All work should fit into a large portfolio or envelope with your name, address and phone number labeled on the outside. Sculptural work may be included but should be represented by a photograph or slide. Do not send the actual sculptural work.
Phase III
Audition Process-Performance: You will be required to produce a drawing during the audition.
Audition Process-Interview: Faculty members will talk with you, reviewing your portfolios, drawings and reading ability, and evaluating academic strengths.
