NOCCA Academic Studio Creative Writing Students | L-R: Grace Clement; Darius Christiansen; Kayla Reado
NOCCA is proud to announce that Level III Creative Writing and Academic Studio students Grace Clement, Darius Christiansen and Kayla Reado have been selected and will be participating in the prestigious Between the Lines Writing Program hosted by the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. For ten years, Between the Lines has offered writing sessions to students between the ages of 16 to 19 years old from the United States, Russia, Sudan, and various Eastern countries.
Between the Lines offers summer sessions focusing on the uniqueness and connection of identity across the world regardless of belief systems and ideology.
Clement, Christiansen, and Reado said their training from the NOCCA Creative Writing Department and faculty have given them the skills needed to participate in this summer program. They are all excited to grow more as artists at Between the Lines.
Student Kayla Reado shared her excitement, “What I am interested in learning is about other people. The session is a mixture of Russian and Arabic speakers, their identity and belonging. I am curious to know how people express themselves outside of the country,” Reado said.
