Emeril Lagasse knows how to raise money for causes close to his heart. Just last fall, his Boudin & Beer event and Carnivale du Vin gala pulled in $2.2 million for children’s charities.
It’s that sort of philanthropic drive that has earned Lagasse the latest in his long line of culinary achievements. On May 6, he will receive the James Beard Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The honor will come during the James Beard Awards ceremony at New York’s Lincoln Center, an annual celebration widely referred to as the culinary world’s Oscars.
