New Orleans Center for Creative Arts is proud to announce that full-day NOCCA Academic Studio junior and Classical Vocalist Emily Sheets has been invited to participate in a live recording of the National Public Radio show From the Top at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. In addition, From the Top also selected Emily as one of the very few national 2015 recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, which includes a scholarship up to $10,000.
As part of her selection by the prestigious national program, Emily will travel to Miami April 29-May 1 to perform and take part in an arts leadership retreat, which encourages students to think outside the box about how they can use their musical gifts to serve their community.
Broadcast on 250 stations nationwide to an audience of more than 700,000 listeners, From the Top is one of the most popular classical music programs on radio. The program showcasing Emily will air on WWNO (89.9) sometime in May. Each one-hour episode presents five high-caliber performances along with interviews, revealing the heart and soul behind extraordinary young musicians.
