NOCCA Creative Writing Student Selected As President Scholar Candidate

Only Louisiana High School Student Selected As Candidate For Presidential Scholar In The Arts

youngARTS, a program created by The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, recently announced their nominations for the Presidential Scholars in the Arts program. NOCCA Creative Writing student Natasha Cox received notification that she received the prestigious Silver Award in Writing/Short Story, $5,000 award, a trip to New York City to present her work, and is eligible to compete for the highest honor in student-artist achievement: The Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Natasha is in the process of submitting additional essays as part of her nomination application.

Each year at the request of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts chooses up to 60 youngARTS students to compete for the honor of Presidential Scholar in the Arts. If awarded this honor, Natasha will be celebrated in Washington, DC, during National Recognition Week in June.
