WHAT: The Telling is an interactive art happening celebrating the joy and resilience of New Orleans and commemorating the tenth anniversary of Katrina. The work explores tragedy and triumph through visual arts, music and written word. WHERE: PORT, an emerging art space in an industrial warehouse located at 2120 Port Street in the Ninth Ward, New Orleans La 70117: 2120port.com WHEN: Performance Opening Night: August 26, also 27 and 28, 2015. Doors open at 7pm Independent curator Pamala Bishop brings together internationally renowned photographer Andy Levin with Pulitzer Prize winning author Chris Rose for “The Telling”, a multi-sensory experience of Katrina explored through visual arts, music and written word. New Orleans photographer Andy Levin’s work has appeared in Time, National Geographic, Paris Match, Newsweek, The Village Voice, The New York Times Magazine and Life Magazine. Several of his images of Katrina and her aftermath are featured in the permanent collection at NOMA. Chris Rose is a New York Times best-selling New Orleans author and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who gained national attention for his chronicles of the effect of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans since 2005.
