Jazz Compositions In March
NOCCA Jazz Composition Recital
Wednesday-March 22, 7 PM | Free & Open To The Public
NOCCA Marsalis Jazz Studio
NOCCA Jazz Department proudly presents an evening of original jazz composition and performance on Wednesday, March 22 at 7 PM on NOCCA’s campus in the Marsalis Jazz Studio (2800 Chartres Street, New Orleans).
The performance will feature upper-level students’ work under the direction of NOCCA Jazz Faculty composer and music theory teacher Mike Rihner. The public will truly enjoy this special opportunity to hear students’ original music.
These upper-level NOCCA students have composed some highly creative works with expanded modern forms as well as traditional jazz forms. Many of these senior NOCCA jazz students have already been awarded scholarships to attend prestigious music colleges across America for next year. This will be a highly original jazz music concert with a distinctly New Orleans flair that is guaranteed to please even the casual jazz fan.
