Musical Theatre
NOCCA Musical Theatre student Immanuel Simon, will perform and host an original show in honor of the Patterson Horton Retreat and Youth Home on Friday-June 5, 4:30 PM in the Ellis Marsalis Jazz Studio located on the NOCCA Campus, 2800 Chartres Street.
With the strong belief that creativity is one of the best ways to inspire others, Immanuel has created the concert “Beyoncé Cures The Heart,” (BCTH) which tells the story of his life through the songs of musical artist Beyoncé.
In the summer of 2014, Simon underwent open-heart surgery. The surgery caused him to struggle with the question of his own mortality but he found solace through Beyoncé’s music and entertaining.
Throughout the show, other NOCCA students help tell these stories through song and dance. The concert is performed in support of the Patterson Horton Retreat Center and Youth Home, which supports kids in foster care through mentorship, summer camps, and educational programs. The event offers those in attendance the ability to donate to the organization.
