Louisiana’s arts conservatory, NOCCA is proud to share the news that the school recently received the Exemplary Arts Education Award from the Orleans Public Education Network as an innovator and exemplar leader.
This award is given to a school which has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to integration of the arts as a holistic approach to student achievement.
“It is always wonderful to have the work of NOCCA highlighted,” stated NOCCA President | CEO Kyle Wedberg. “But the real honor is where the award came from and with whom else we were recognized. Long time partners like Ben Franklin; great educational leaders like Jay Altman and Dr. Tony Recasner who have been doing the work of educating and leading students for decades; and all from an organization focused on supporting schools through the activation and empowerment of communities in and through education. We are proud to count ourselves among the esteemed group of OPEN Exemplary Schools and are blessed to be partnered with so many great educational leaders, institutions and partners in this city.”
OPEN commented on NOCCA’s selection by sharing “We were deeply impressed by the school’s culture of tolerance, respect, and the use of the arts as a pathway to personal development. Your school is a space where young people are encouraged to explore their dreams and learn from each other as much as from the team of world-class arts educators.”
