Listen For New Orleans Classical Instrumental Student Georgia Bourderionnet on NPR’s From the Top Live As Recipient Of The Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award
The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts is proud to announce that NOCCA/Benjamin Franklin 12th grade student Georgia Bourderionnet recently returned from Boston, where she was invited to participate in a live recording of the National Public Radio show From the Top. In addition, From the Top also made Georgia one of the very few national 2014 recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, which includes a scholarship up to $10,000.
“Georgia is an extraordinary young artist, person and ambassador for NOCCA and New Orleans,” stated NOCCA President|CEO Kyle Wedberg. “The Jack Kent Cooke foundation does so many things to support students and we are grateful for their recognition of Georgia. It is always incredible when one of our students rises to the highest levels of recognition, but this is really a testament to artistry and hard work.”
Broadcast on 250 stations nationwide to an audience of more than 700,000 listeners, From the Top is one of the most popular classical music programs on radio. Locally, the program showcasing Georgia will air on WWNO (89.9) on Thursday, April 24, 8 PM. Each one-hour episode presents five high-caliber performances along with interviews, revealing the heart and soul behind extraordinary young musicians.
