Student Selected As Special Member Of Media Team
Only Student From Louisiana Selected | Two Students Selected Nationwide
Louisiana’s arts conservatory NOCCA is proud to share the news that local 12th grade NOCCA Media Arts and Thomas Jefferson High School student Anthony Richard, Jr. was selected by the prestigious GRAMMY Foundation® as one of two students to serve as special members of the GRAMMY in the Schools® Media Team. In March, Anthony will travel, all expenses paid, to Los Angeles to document the GRAMMY® Week experience for the GRAMMY Foundation’s social media platforms.
Anthony, representing the only student selected from Louisiana, will take part in a weeklong musical adventure, the 2016 GRAMMY Camp® — Jazz Session under the direction of Justin DiCioccio of the Manhattan School of Music, Dr. Ron McCurdy of the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and associate choral director Susanna Wegner of Kansas City, Mo. His selection launches him into the spotlight surrounding the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards®, and provides him with unparalleled opportunities to interview and document the experience and some of music’s biggest names.
“I am honored, excited and thrilled,” stated student Anthony Richard, Jr. “I am currently applying to Howard University, NYU and Northwestern and I know this will help me with my college applications and future career in multimedia journalism studies.”
GRAMMY Camp — Jazz Session selectees are eligible for more than $2 million in college scholarships made possible through the GRAMMY Foundation’s college partners: Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and USC Thornton School of Music.
