NOCCA Middle School Vocal Student To Sing At Carnegie Hall
Student Selected From Audition For Honors Junior Choir
New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) is proud to share the news: NOCCA Middle School Vocal student Charlotte Butler (7th grade student also attending Mandeville Junior High) was selected by audition to be part of the Honors Junior Choir for the 2014 Middle School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. This June, Charlotte plans to travel to New York for masterclasses, instruction and the performance and the world renown performance venue.
The Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall challenges elite students to perform at their very best. Students rehearse and perform under master conductors and have the opportunity to perform before invited representatives from collegiate and professional music programs. Though much of the students’ time is focused on performance preparation, the week also allows students to experience the best of the sights and the performance arts in New York City.
Charlotte was nominated by her private voice teacher Gail Adams of Mandeville who helped Charlotte coordinate her audition video which included a piece from Charlotte’s fall NOCCA recital. Charlotte also has been part of two the two New Orleans Operas including Noah’s Flood and Un ballo in maschera and she is looking forward to performing in La bohème this April.
