Ballet Teacher Brings Expertise To Student-Artists at NOCCA
Karl Condon New Addition to Dance Faculty
New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) is proud to announce that Karl Condon has become the newest member of its dance faculty as a ballet instructor. Karl comes to NOCCA from an extensive professional career in dance both as a principal dancer at Boston Ballet and most recently as the Associate Artistic Director of Ballet Memphis.
“I have tried to make a positive impact on the dancers, organizations and communities throughout my career,” stated Karl. “I have been in the fields of classical ballet and dance since before my teens, and am passionate about their traditions, technique, history, and beauty.”
The chair of NOCCA’s dance department, Blake Coheley, shared, “The dance community is very excited about the addition of Karl to the NOCCA staff and to the region. His expertise in the world of ballet, as well as his teaching style, are going to continue to push the Dance Department to the forefront of youth training programs in the south.”
At Ballet Memphis, Mr. Condon’s choreographic highlights include critically lauded works: Coppelia, The Nutcracker, South of Everywhere, and Connections: Kids. Karl has conceived and implemented numerous outreach and enrichment programs reaching thousands of youth in the community. During his tenure at Ballet Memphis, he mentored and coached hundreds of dancers by teaching company classes, facilitating all open auditions and audition tours, choreographing and restaging choreography for the Company and Junior Company, advising dancers and artistic staff, while honing the skills of an entire team of teaching artists.
