Dual Enrollment Opportunity For NOCCA Students With UNO
NOCCA is honored to announce a new Dual Enrollment program available for its students in collaboration with the University of New Orleans, the city’s only public research university.
Now, NOCCA students who have applied to and been accepted by the University of New Orleans may receive college credit from the university for course credit in various Academic and Arts classes. Students can complete up to 24 credits, equivalent to almost two semesters, before entering their college career.
Director of Colleges and Advancement, Dr. Richard Collins, shared, “The training students receive from their professional instructors at NOCCA produces a skill level that often exceeds what students will encounter in their introductory arts courses in college. Now, they have the opportunity to be exempt from introductory college classes and take courses that will continue their growth while saving them time and money. Dual enrollment strengthens their applications.”
University admissions are interested in enrolling students who have taken the most challenging courses available to them. Dual enrollment with UNO will make the NOCCA students more competitive in their applications.
Eligible NOCCA Academic Studio Juniors can receive three course credits for Introduction to Environmental Science in NOCCA Integrated Sciences III. Eligible seniors can earn six course credits for English Composition I and II in NOCCA Integrated Humanities IV. Also, the NOCCA arts disciplines currently offering dual enrollment college credit opportunities include Visual Arts, Media Arts and Creative Writing.
