
Fall Non-Credit Workshops for Visual Arts
Read more below and follow the link to register. These classes fill very quickly! Reconfirm you are eligible (at the required grade level) and your schedule will allow you to meet for all class times. Pay close attention as some workshops conflict with others (do not sign-up for two workshops that meet on the same date). When paying for the workshop with your credit card, the name registering for the event needs to match the name on the credit card. There are separate places to include the student name and grade level.

Visual Arts: Digital Panoramas
Grades 8-11th Grade
Mondays: October 8-29, 4-6 PM
See like a bug! Using a digital cameras we will take multiple photographs of our surroundings and stitch them back together on the computer. The effect is a world of disoriented familiarity. We will go on a field trip to capture images and then come back to the studio and use Photoshop to enhance the images for print. All supplies needed included with supply fee of $40.

Visual Arts: Photography Workshop
Grades 8-11th Grade
Fridays: October 5-26, 4:30-6:30PM
Moving betweencurrent and vintage photographic technologies, this four-day photo workshop will explore the Cyanotype printing process, an alternative non-silver process created by William Henry Fox Talbot and used by Anna Atkins, the first person to publish a book using the process. Students will create compositions using collage and photogram techniques, while learning a bit about its history in the Constructivist and Dadaist movements. We’ll also consider contemporary work in this genre by Rauschenberg, Adam Fuss and others. Students will learn how to scan, create digital negatives, delve into the wet darkroom lab and to use a light exposure unit (if the sunlight is dim). Emphasis will be placed on design, craftsmanship and creativity! All supplies needed included with supply fee of $40.

Visual Arts: Self-Portrait Drawing Workshop
Grades 8-11th Grade
Fridays: October 5-26, 4:30-6:30 PM
Refine your portrait drawing skills! By looking closely in a mirror and using facial-proportion tips, students explore portrait drawing using themselves as their own model! Using black and white charcoal media, each student will create two-dimensional self-portrait drawings to take home. All supplies needed included with supply fee of $35
