St. Tammany Student Filmmaker Accepted Into International Film Festival
NOCCA is honored to share the news that current full-day Academic Studio | Media Arts student Peyton Finch was accepted into Early Bird International Film Festival for her film, “Honest”. As one of 117 films receiving official selection status by a jury of artists, her work competed with over 1200 films from 80 countries.
Peyton’s film is an experimental self-portrait that explores the internal and external realities of the self through the collection of qualitative data.
Peyton shared, “I asked my peers, teachers, and family members to place objects, notes, words, etc. into boxes with the prompt: ‘What reminds you of me?’ This film is an interpretation of this data. I want to thank fellow student, now alum Reyna Rivas, who graduated from NOCCA last year, who help shoot this film.”
The film will be shown at the festival taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria.
As Peyton plans for graduation and beyond her plans including applying to colleges that offer a focus that melds the sciences with media arts in an interdisciplinary major. It is her hope that other filmmakers from her hometown of Slidell consider applying and auditioning to NOCCA.
