New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) is proud to share the news: NOCCA Jazz student Jeffery Miller (12th grade student also attending Benjamin Franklin High) recently returned from the GRAMMY Jazz Camp where he performed and was able to attend the GRAMMY awards ceremony.
Jeffery was one of thirty-two talented high school jazz instrumental and vocal students — representing 30 cities and 12 states from across the country — selected to participate in GRAMMY Camp — Jazz Session. Jeffery traveled to Los Angeles for a weeklong musical adventure and as a selectee, he is eligible for more than $2 million in scholarships from College Partners such as, Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and New School University for Jazz & Contemporary Music.
Jeffery took part in GRAMMY In The Schools Live!, a showcase for Jazz Session members at the University of Southern California, as well as performed in public with NOCCA alum Delfeayo Marsalis. In addition to the multiple public performances, Jeffery and Jazz Session members were able to record an album at the legendary Capitol Studios & Mastering. As the grand finale, Jeffery attended the 56th AnnualGRAMMY Awards as guests of The Recording Academy® and performed at the after-party.
