How do you feel about starting your next school year at a performing arts high school?
Starting high school at a performing arts school is an amazing opportunity. I feel like I am very blessed and I know that at NOCCA I will be given the tools I need to be successful in life.
When did you notice your passion for musical theater? How did you first get introduced to your craft?
I first noticed my passion for musical theater when I was in my second show “Alice in Wonderland” at age six. I was a lead and I was able to discover and appreciate how much work goes into the show to make it a phenomenal experience for the audience. However, my first experience with my craft was when I was 5 years old at a local community theater production of “The Wizard of Oz.” I was lucky to be exposed to musical theater at a very young age and I have always known that I want to have a career that allows me to express myself through music.
How have you started preparing for your arts training? Did you do any training this summer?
I am preparing for the upcoming school year by participating in any event that allows me to learn more about musical theater. Over the summer, I sang in a recital, was a part of a production of “Aladdin Jr,” and even watched a few shows by different local theaters. I believe that all of these things are helping to prepare and train me for my upcoming arts instruction.
What is your goal for the next school year? Your next four years at NOCCA?
It is hard to be completely sure of my goal for next school year because we have not started the school year yet. However, I can say that a goal of mine for next school year is to pass all of my classes, preferably with all ‘A’s. For the next four years, my goal is to retain all of the knowledge I can while I am at NOCCA and apply it to any career field I may choose. I also hope to make friends and connections over the next four years that stay with me for many years to come.
What was your reaction when you learned you were accepted into NOCCA?
When I learned that I was accepted into NOCCA, I don’t think that it hit me until a few seconds after I read the word “Congratulations” out loud. When it finally registered in my brain, I celebrated with my family and couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. My parents and siblings were extremely excited for me and I am thankful that they are just as thrilled as I am to be a part of the NOCCA program.
