20th Anniversary on the Riverfront
Twenty years ago this month, NOCCA’s new campus on Chartres Street opened its doors, and a long, fruitful partnership with the state was born. As a special school, NOCCA is able to service students from across the state, and its current enrollment includes students from 17 regional parishes and over 100 public, private and parochial partner schools.
Over its last 20 years, NOCCA has been able to service more students increasing its enrollment, added numerous art forms of study including Culinary Arts, Musical Theatre, Media Arts and Theatre Design, as well has expanded its instructional excellence to the full-day school Academic Studio. Currently, NOCCA is servicing over 600 students in its 11 arts disciplines through various attendance options including full-day, ½ day, afterschool and summer intensive.
NOCCA’s DNA is based on the cornerstone of artist-teacher training with student graduates from the Class of 2019 receiving on average over $200,000 per student.
“It has been an extraordinary 20 years,” NOCCA’s President | CEO Kyle Wedberg shared. “The work done by students and Alumni continues to set the standard in the arts locally, nationally, and internationally. As our Governor is fond of saying for Louisiana, our best days are ahead of us. We believe that for the State, NOCCA, and our partnership in the advancement of world class arts education. NOCCA looks forward to serving more of the students across the State of Louisiana for many years to come.”
