Media Arts Students Invited To Screen Film At White House
Student Film Chosen As Finalist In First Ever White House Student Film Competition
NOCCA Media Arts and Full-Day Academic Studio Student, Richard White, along with the help of classmates Trad Willmann and Nick Ramey were invited to screen their short film PIP at the White House Film Festival on February 28.
White discovered the new White House Film Festival Competition, based on a Media Arts requirement to enter at least 3 film festivals each year. Open to any K-12 student, the competition aims to highlight the power of technology in education. Richard took them the helm as writer and director and turned to his classmates Trad Willmann and Nick Ramey, to serve as his Director of Photography and Producer. They worked two weeks writing, filming, producing and editing the short.
PIP, is a powerful and heartwarming look at a young boy who is asked to present at his “show and tell” day at school. Through a futuristic look of what could be and what is possible, the film reflects on how far technology can help us share our own dreams with others.
“While we are not surprised that the product of these three young artists would be recognized as outstanding work by a film festival, we are very honored and humbled that this time it was selected by and is being celebrated at the White House,” stated NOCCA President|CEO Kyle Wedberg. “This is an extraordinary honor for these young artists and NOCCA and I am sure they will be incredible ambassadors for the school and the State of Louisiana.”
From over 2,000 submissions, Richard, Trad, and Nick’s film is in the running for first place. The official announcement of winners will take place at the ceremony in the White House Screening Room on February 28.
