Louisiana’s arts conservatory New Orleans Center for Creative Arts is proud to share the news that current Classical Vocal student Lindsey Reynolds (Soprano, 12th Grade NOCCA Academic Studio, New Orleans-70122, Instructor NOCCA Vocal Faculty Chair Phyllis Treigle) is one of the national recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award Scholarship. In addition to providing these young artists with an opportunity to perform on From the Top’s national broadcasts, recipients are awarded up to $10,000 to help offset the often prohibitively expensive costs of studying classical music at a high level. Each year, From the Top chooses approximately 20 exceptional pre-collegiate musicians ages 8-18 to receive the Award.
Broadcast on more than 220 stations nationwide to an audience of more than half a million listeners, From the Top celebrates the stories, talents, and character of America’s best pre-collegiate classically-trained musicians. Now in its 15th season, From the Top delights both seasoned classical listeners and new classical music fans. Each one-hour broadcast features five or six performances along with interviews, sketches, and games, revealing the heart and soul behind the talent of these extraordinary young musicians.
Traveling to Big Sky’s Gallatin Canyon in Montana, Lindsey will be also enjoy the opportunity not only to perform before a live and national radio audience, but she will also join fellow young musicians in an arts leadership orientation workshop to think about how you can make a difference in the world with your music and abilities.
