How do you feel about continuing your studies at NOCCA?
I am very excited to start learning more new things this school year, and to strive to be a better me as a Junior so I can be able to lead others.
When did you notice your passion for your artform? How did you first get introduced to your craft?
I noticed my passion for dance when I was about ten years old. I started watching Chris Brown and Michael Jackson videos trying to get the moves and steps down to every song. That’s when I realized that it’s not about if you got the step or if you’re on the right beat. It’s about getting lost in the music and feeling the beat so that the audience can see your personality not just steps.
How have you started preparing for your arts training or anything you are proud of that you did over the summer to help make a successful year at NOCCA?
This summer I started taking classes to stay conditioned and in shape, so I can come back ready and prepared for my classes. I took classes over the summer to push myself to be better than I was last year, and to continue striving to reach new heights as a dancer.
What is your goal for the year?
My goal for this year is to stay on top of all my work. To be positive and support all my friends, my teachers, and to help all the people I can my time here at NOCCA. I want people to see me as a friend because they can always count on me.
How far are you traveling to NOCCA? Why are you committed to training at NOCCA?
I’m traveling from Algiers on the Westbank to NOCCA which is about fifteen minutes away. I am committed to NOCCA to make a difference in the world because I know that NOCCA will always be here for me if I need help with anything. I know they are here to support me every day no matter how big the problem may be I can always count on NOCCA.
