Classical Vocal Represented at Nationals
NOCCA is proud to share the news that rising senior attending Haynes Academy for Advance Studies and NOCCA in Classical Vocal Music is competing as a finalist in the National Association of Teachers of Singing National Student Auditions. Lauren is one of three in her category selected from students across the nation for this prestigious competition.
This long-standing tradition of regional NATS Student Auditions offers the opportunity for the top performers in each region to compete with other top artists from across the continent. Lauren as the winner in the regional competition in the Fall of 2019 was selected to advance to a national online screening round. Fourteen singers from each of the 14 categories advanced to the semifinal round and now, Lauren and two other singers are competing in the final round.
“Lauren’s dedication and hard work has led her to this achievement,” stated NOCCA Classical Vocal Music Chair Phyllis Treigle. “Her command of her vocal technique is impressive, and she sings with a thoughtful beauty and maturity. I am extremely proud of Lauren and know that she has a very bright future.”
The National Association of Teachers of Singing encourages the highest standards of the vocal art and ethical principles in the teaching of singing; and promotes vocal education and research at all levels, both for the enrichment of the general public and for the professional advancement of the talented. Prizes for first, second and third place will total at least $35,000 in the national competition. Cheer on Lauren, Sunday, June 28, 1 PM EST (NOON Central) live on the NATS YouTube Channel: OfficialNATS.
