France In The Front Yard
NOCCA Installs Artwork At the New Orleans French Consulate
Through an active partnership between NOCCA and the Consulate General of France in New Orleans, students from NOCCA’s Visual Arts and Theatre Design Departments have exhibited mixed media work at the Résidence de France on Prytania Street.
“Thanks first and foremost to our friends at the French Consulate and specifically Consul General Mr. Vincent Sciama for a second year of partnership,” stated NOCCA President | CEO Kyle Wedberg. “In this time of isolation it is a true gift to get to do work that will actually be part of an installation and enjoyed by friends and partners.”
Mr. Wedberg continued, “The students will be part of many installations during their careers and futures, but this is truly singular work. It is incredible and meaningful to be able to share art with people outside the pods of family and classmates. It is wonderful for this group to get to do a project together as that is not happening for many young artists this year.”
The Consul General of France in Louisiana Mr. Vincent Sciama added: “Our inspiration for the conception of the France in the Front Yard project was to highlight the outstanding creativity of the emerging talents of NOCCA, and the students continue to amaze us by their innovative contributions, underlying the strong relationship between France and Louisiana.”
Louisiana’s Indigenous Landscape
Inspired by the beautiful indigenous flora that Louisiana and France share, the Level IV NOCCA Visual Arts students each chose a plant as a starting point and created a unique artwork through their own artistic vision.

Universe at Hand
Both a physical manifestation and a metaphysical concept, Universe at Hand is a tribute to French mathematician Urbain le Verrier, who discovered Neptune by observing its gravitational effect on Uranus. This project represents how we can use mathematics to visualize the solar system and every other planetary object.
