Media Arts Students Win at Pontchartrain Film Festival
NOCCA students Brandon Ellis (right) of Slidell who won Best High School Film for ‘Gene-X’ and Crawford Lemoine (left) of Madisonville won the high school Audience Award for his film ‘Mackey & Gibbs.’
Student filmmakers were present to show their work and answer questions from the audience at the Pontchartrain Film Festival’s annual Student Short Film Showcase held recently at the Mandeville Trailhead Depot.
Seven filmmakers in competition included high school students Brandon Ellis and Peyton Finch of Slidell, Crawford Lemoine of Madisonville and Charles Watkins of New Orleans. College students were Nick Manning and Langston Williams from the University of New Orleans and Benjamin Butler from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
UNO graduate Langston Williams won Best College Film for “Stay Woke.” Brandon Ellis won Best High School Film for “Gene-X.”
Audience Favorite awards were a close competition with “Party On” by Nick Manning the winner in the college category, and “Mackey & Gibbs” by Crawford Lemoine the high school winner.
