Classical Instrumental Piano Students Shine in a Five-State Regional Competition
Congratulations to Classical Instrumental students Sebastien Barrau (Level II, Benjamin Franklin High/left ) and Mattie Griswold (Level IV, NOCCA Academic Studio/virtually right) for their third place placement in the Gulf Coast Steinway Society Music Competition (five-state regional competition).
The competition was held live at the University of Mobile, Alabama (allowing performances both in person and over Zoom). The two NOCCA students competed with high school pianists from five states – Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Sebastien and Mattie tied for the 3rd place (following only one 1st and one 2nd place) in the high school piano division and will each receive a medal and a monetary award for their success. Sebastien and Mattie study piano with NOCCA faculty Dr. Hristo Birbochukov.
