Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Selects NOCCA Creative Writing Students As National Winners
National Gold, Silver & American Voices Medals
NOCCA is proud to share the news that students in the Creative Writing Department were recognized by the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Competition as national winners.
Five students received national level Gold and Silver Medals. In addition, a student received an American Voices Medal as the “Best-of-Show” chosen from all the writing submissions in his region. Nation-wide, only five student writers receive this award, one from each of five regions.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are an important opportunity for students to be recognized for their creative talents. Teens in grades 7 through 12 can apply in 28 categories of art and writing for the chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited or published. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
