NOCCA Music Students Recognized In LPO Young Artist Competition
Louisiana’s arts conservatory NOCCA is proud to share the news that current Classical Instrumental students Sara Vollenweider (French Horn), who also attends Archbishop Chapelle High School, and Derek Witzig (Piano), who also attends Benjamin Franklin High School, were recognized in the 29th Annual LPO Young Artists’ Concerto Competition that took place at Dixon Recital Hall, Tulane University on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Winner: Sara Vollenweider | French Horn, Level II NOCCA Classical Instrumental
Applied Instructor: Josiah Bullach, Associate Principal Horn at the LPO
As a winning recognized student, Sara will perform as a soloist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in early 2020.
Runner-Up: Derek Witzig | Piano, Level III NOCCA Classical Instrumental
Applied Instructor: NOCCA Faculty Dr. Hristo Birbochukov, Artist-Teacher of Piano and Chair of the Classical Instrumental Department at NOCCA
