NOCCA Students Featured In Pontchartrain Film Fest!
Student filmmakers will showcase their latest works at the Pontchartrain Film Festival Student Short Film Showcase at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at the Mandeville Trailhead, 675 Lafitte St., Mandeville, Louisiana. Admission is free.
Short films will be in competition for cash prizes and the annual Audience Award. The showcase features emerging high school and college filmmakers in Louisiana. Films run the gamut from narrative to nonfiction and experimental – and a film that recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The public is invited to vote for their favorite in the annual Audience Award competition. Ballots are given out at 4 p.m. and votes are collected from those who view all the films. There will be a cash award of $100 each for the jury selection of Best College Film and Best High School Film.
High school films include work by NOCCA students including: “Gene-E” by Brandon Ellis; “Mackey & Gibbs” by Crawford Lemoine; and “Deadlines” by Charles Watkins. College student films include “Black Men Don’t Cry” by Benjamin Butler; “Party On” by Nick Manning; and “Stay Woke” by Langston Williams.
A question and answer session with the filmmakers in attendance will follow the screening. Winners will be announced following the Q&A.
