NOCCA Students Selected As POSSE Scholars
NOCCA is proud to announce that McDonogh #35 | Drama student, Nyja White and NOCCA Academic Studio | Dance student, Ahmari Vaughn, are recipients of the 2019 Posse Foundation Scholarship.
The Posse Foundation awards students full-tuition scholarships to partner colleges such as Bard University, Case Western Reserve University, Wesleyan University, University of Notre Dame and Tulane University. Students selected for this award are nominated by their high school instructors, then are evaluated through an intensive interview process. Students must exemplify high academic achievement and leadership qualities. Both NOCCA students, Nyja and Ahmari received confirmation that they are selected for this prestigious honor.
Becoming a member of the Posse Foundation is a huge accomplishment to both of these young artists. In the Fall of 2019, through the Posse Scholarship, Nyja will be attending Illinois Wesleyan University to study Theater. Ahmari plans on majoring in Dance with a minor in philosophy, at Case Western University. After college, Nyia plants to create a theatre and dance company for teens in New Orleans and Ahmari intends on performing with a major dance company.
