Current Director of Arts To Serve As Interim President/CEO
NOCCA Alum & Dance Chair Promoted To Director of Arts
NOCCA’s long-serving President | CEO Kyle Wedberg, has announced that he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the 2021 calendar year.
NOCCA President | CEO Kyle Wedberg shared with his faculty and staff personally, “After 14 years of service to this incredible school and state agency, I have made the announcement to the NOCCA Board of Directors that I will be transitioning to a new opportunity in January 2022. During these 14 years, it has been a professional privilege to serve students and work with the incredible group of adults here at NOCCA.”
NOCCA Board President Mr. Buddy Boe shares, “The NOCCA Board thanks and recognizes the work of Mr. Kyle Wedberg. In his 14 years as President/CEO he has helped NOCCA become a better version of itself. We are grateful for his leadership, want him to know he is still part of the NOCCA Family, and wish him every success in the future.”
The NOCCA Board of Directors has appointed an Interim President/CEO to continue the high level of administrative leadership at the school. Current Director of the Arts Mr. Silas Cooper, currently serving on the Administrative Leadership Team, will become Interim President | CEO of the agency. Mr. Wedberg has named NOCCA Alum and current Dance Department Chair Ms. Kesha McKey as the new Director of the Arts. Ms. McKey will be the first NOCCA Alum to serve on the Administrative Leadership Team at NOCCA.
Mr. Buddy Boe on behalf of the Board further stated, “NOCCA is filled with strong leadership at every level and we are fortunate to have someone like Silas Cooper to serve the NOCCA Community. NOCCA has been fortunate to have leaders who stay, so we are entering a process to make a long-term leadership decision. It is going to take time to define and run that process, so we are grateful to Silas for taking on the Interim role. He has served NOCCA for over a decade as a faculty member, Department Chair, Board Member, and administrator. We have every belief he will continue to do so in this new capacity.”
“Both of these talented individuals will be outstanding in their respective roles and are an evolution of the organization in different ways,” stated Kyle Wedberg. “Silas is the first Louisiana native not from New Orleans to serve in the President/CEO role and Kesha has been a leading voice on campus for years, all of the way back to her days as a student. Her title will now just match the voice and vision she has brought to the work for years. They are both incredible leaders and will provide continuity to the work of this incredible school.”
In Mr. Wedberg’s letter to families he shared, “I love NOCCA and plan to continue to support the school, now just from an emeritus position and in a different seat. My family and I get to live in New Orleans and Louisiana; but I also get to expand my work at the national level in governmental policy, teaching, finance, and education.”
