Faculty & Administration Travel To Shreveport For Festival
New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Louisiana’s Arts Conservatory, was invited to support ArtBreak, the largest student art festival in the South, taking place in Shreveport, LA, April 8-14.
Traveling to the Shreveport Convention Center, NOCCA’s Culinary Arts Department Chair Chef Dana Tuohy served as a judge for the “Sizzle” Culinary Art Competition, and NOCCA’s Director of Community Engagement Andy Bower served as guest conductor and clinician for the Middle School Honor Band.
NOCCA’s Director of Community Engagement Andy Bower shared, “ArtBreak is an incredible display of what strong, comprehensive arts programs can do for students and their community. The breadth and quality of art on display is a testament to the excellent work teachers are doing in Caddo Parish, as well as the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, and shows how crucial the arts are in our schools and communities throughout Louisiana.”
Focusing on the importance of arts education for all, NOCCA was honored to play a small role in this incredible student art festival.
NOCCA’s plan is to continue these relationships into the school year with visits, tours and continuing education with plans to expand even further to more locations and organizations.
