Biography

Jemina is a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans, where she majored in psychology and minored in dance. She then moved to New York City to continue her studies in Ballet and Modern/Contemporary dance under master instructors such as Peff Modelski, Val Suarez, Max Stone, and Janna Hicks. While in New York she performed with classical and modern dance companies and made lifelong friendships with incredible artists that have helped shape and develop dance into a conscious and poignant art form.

Jemina is also a Physical Therapist. She earned her Master’s Degree from Hunter College and trained under Marika Molnar at West Side Dance PT for 6 years where she had the pleasure of working alongside pioneers in the creation and development of the field of dance medicine.

As a PT Jemina worked with dancers from the New York City Ballet and other professional companies, students from the Juilliard school as well as performers from Broadway shows. She specializes in ballet and contemporary/modern technique, alignment, neuromuscular control and breath.

In 2012 Jemina moved back home to the New Orleans region where she has worked, taught, and choreographed for over 10 years and is very grateful and excited to join the NOCCA team.
